Skyline from Primrose Hill
Welcome to Francis Katz Artworks
Welcome to my newly redesigned website. I can now update and expand it myself, so please do come back regularly to see what is new.
I am an artist who lives in Primrose Hill. I am passionate about the area, and have been painting, exhibiting and selling paintings of local scenes since 1994.
I have studied at The City Lit and The Hampstead School of Art. My paintings have been exhibited and sold in selected galleries and local venues over the years, but I now prefer selling direct locally and through this website - meeting and talking to you, getting your feedback on my work, and passing on to you the benefit of not having to pay gallery commission! As usual I will be at the PHCA Fair in Chalcot Square on Saturday 13 June 2009, and you can always view my available artworks by arrangement with me.
You may know me best for my watercolours and photographic collages of local landscapes and village scenes. I also paint in oils, and in all three media cover other landscapes and seascapes extensively on my sailing travels - often using watercolours done in the field (or on the sea!) and working them up to oils back in my studio. You will now see here my work of Southern France, Corsica and beyond alongside my Primrose Hill artworks, and I hope you will find it interesting to see the two side by side. You will also now find here links to my sailing travelogues (and a short childrens book 'The Adventures of Wild Will from Primrose Hill'), so I hope this will give you a more complete view of my art and the things that inspire me.
I am sometimes asked by people who collect my work if I can recommend other artists they might like. I am accordingly planning to develop the Gallery section to include works by other artists I collect and/or admire.
I am always happy to receive comments, suggestions and feedback, so please do let me know what you think by sending me a message through the link on the Contact page.
I hope you enjoy exploring my little world, and will be a regular visitor.
